Basketball players from Bosnia won the title of champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The students are in the second leg of the playoff final tonight in Sarajevo after overtime defeated by Igokea with a score of 100:97, but they reached the title thanks to win the first game in Laktaši with a difference of six points and a better overall goal difference.
Igokea dominated in the first half and had even 17 point advantage so after 20 minutes it seemed that the guests would be able to defend last season’s title. With aggressive defense, they forced the home team to make mistakes, while with precise shooting they constantly increased their advantage, which grew to 23 points at the beginning of the second half.
Then he followed the incredible return of Bosnia. The students played more aggressively in defense, and Plummer and Atić played in attack, so Bosnia reduced the deficit to only eight points by the end of the third quarter.
The last quarter it brought great drama. Bosnia came close to being five points behind several times, Igokea was again behind by seven points, and in the last minute, with a lead of six points, the guests had an attack for the title. However, Rorie missed the three-point shot.
Since the regular part of the game is over by an identical difference like the first meeting in Laktaši, overtime was played in which the great fight continued point by point. As in the regular part, Igokea had an attack for the title, but Rorie made a mistake when passing, and Caruthers converted the stolen ball into a basket with which Bosnia reduced the deficit to four points.
On the other side, Pierre-Louis hit only one free throw and missed the opportunity to win the second overtime. Two seconds before the end, after a quick foul by Igokea, West made both free throws for the final 100:97 and a big celebration for Bosnia.
Bosnia is like that returned the championship title to Sarajevo after 18 years and a successful season, in which they won seventh place in the ABA league, crowned the champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The most effective for Bosnia were Plummer and Kovačević with 15 points each, Atić added 13, West 12, and Young 11 points. In Igokea, the best were Pierre-Louis with 23, Milosavljević with 21 and Rorie with 14 points.
