Bogomir Đukić: »Reflections and longings of the heavenly nomad: the unusual and extravagant poetic worlds of Amir Brka”
In house edition Academician from Banja Luka, another book, the 11th in a row, about the poetry of Amir Brka was published last year. Its author is the writer and philosopher Bogomir Đukić, its title is Glimpses and longings of the Celestial Nomadand the subtitle The unusual and extravagant poetic worlds of Amir Brka. This extensive book (340 pages) is structured in six chapters: Towards the singing and opinion of Amir Brka; Evolution and phases, and the nature and character of Brka’s singing; Verses in the vortex of ruins that support; Poetic insights and pursuits from the vertical of the heavenly nomad; Through the reflections and longings of the poetic misanthrope’s dreams; In the focus of the dialectics of darkness and posthumous songs.
At the very beginning, the author makes statements about the value of Brka’s poetic creativity:
“Amir Brka is like a rare contemporary poet in these scarce and civilizationally unusual, strangely existing areas, a great devotee of poetry and poetry as a whole, and that in his best, simple, and unique edition, which, with an exceptional creative gift and poetic, technical and stylistic thoughtfulness, managed to find his own literary speech and brilliant poetic script, with which he rose to the very top of not only domestic but also European and world poetry. Grown in the specific Usor-Tešanj environment and spiritual locality (…), he rose to the highest, luxurious poetic expanses, building a completely recognizable and unique poetic-literary world of local nuance and flavor, but with universal, human-cosmic and all-historical reach and origins.”
And finally, after a careful and exhaustive analysis of Brka’s poetic oeuvre, Đukić concludes:
“There is no doubt that Amir Brka, with his creativity as a whole, and especially with his poetry and singing opinion of unique verses and noble thoughts, feelings and messages, singing contemporary times and his own, unique moments of time and existence, greatly expanded and deepened, and enriched his national and regional, but also European and world literature and culture in this unique corner and in its climate. with an unremembered, creative linguistic game of words, signs, meanings and their symbols, metaphors and codes, networking them and introducing into his poetic universe a certain enigmatic, creative-poetic game of mysticism of reflections, doubts about the meaning, irony, cynicism and grotesqueness of this worst of all worlds known to us so far, in order to preserve in his secret verse/battle unique reflections and longings, and the very trines and fragments of hope in the indestructible meaning of existence in the too vain and empty world of life.”
In his review, Momčilo Spasojević observes that “Đukić was aware of the fact that the extensive and sumptuous poetic work of Amir Brka, like all other famous poets related to him, cannot be completely and fully understood, because no matter how many approaches and perspectives there are and can be at all, there will always be other and new ones that earlier understandings could not have and managed to encompass in their knowledge. (…) In addition, Đukić emphasizes the fact that Amir Brka is broad and thorough educated, that he knows well contemporary domestic and world poetry, and in its context, of course, poetic-aesthetic ideas and attitudes, which he deftly and masterfully uses in the marvelous construction of his own verses, sonnets, songs and poems, and that in this sense he is among the most talented and highly philosophically educated contemporary poets, because without a good knowledge of poetic, aesthetic and philosophical contemporaneity, one cannot even grow to the highest contemporary artistic format.” In the end, Spasojević points out that “Bogomir Đukić gave an extraordinary study of Amir Brka’s poetic creativity with the book ‘Glimpses and Longings of the Heavenly Nomad’.”
Bogomir Djukic was born in 1943 in Markovac near Velika Plana (Serbia). He graduated in general literature with literary theory in 1967 at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, received his master’s degree at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo in 1977, and his doctorate in 1988 at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo with the thesis “Genetic Structuralism of Lisjen Goldman”. He worked at the gymnasium in Teslić (where he lives), and since 1996 he has been teaching at the Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka. In poetry and prose, he combines a reflective and lyrical voice, with an emphasis on experiencing the phenomena of existence, love, homeland. In the scientific field, he deals with the interpretation of aesthetics, philosophy of art, Hellenic rhetoric and aesthetics, Serbian philosophical literature, contemporary Serbian literature and art, and modern critical methodologies. Ppersonally examines the phenomenon of art criticism, its structure and the scientific basis of its functioning. It is the winner of Prosveta’s book of the year award (1999) and the Paunovo pero award.
