The metropolis with more than 10 million inhabitants is located on the southern slopes of the Alboz mountains, 5,600 meters high, which are often covered with snow and whose rivers feed several reservoirs, reports Srna.

A local official said last month that the level of rainfall in Tehran province was almost unprecedented in the last 100 years.
A year ago, the “Amir Kabir” dam accumulated 86 million cubic meters of water, but since then there has been almost no rainfall, officials say.
