Foster care is an extremely important form of providing protection and support to children who, for various reasons, cannot live with their biological families.
It was organized in order to promote and strengthen awareness of the importance of foster care as the most humane form of care for children without adequate parental care.
The meeting brought together experts from centers for social work, representatives of the cantonal ministry and local self-government, and foster carers themselves. It was an opportunity to share experiences from practice and encourage greater involvement of the local community in the process of recruitment and support for foster care in the area of Tuzla Canton.
“The role of the Tuzla Canton, i.e. the relevant ministry, is perhaps crucial, and that is to provide the funds that are necessary, which are paid for both the breadwinner and the breadwinner, but on the other hand, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, to provide a sufficient number of both basic and additional education”, said Fadil Alić, Minister of Labour, Social Policy and Return to TK on this occasion.
Association “Society of social workers TK” also presented the activities of the project “Support and empowerment of the group of foster parents and promotion of foster care in Tuzla Canton”, supported by the Government of TK and the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy and Return of TK.
The round table was realized as part of the project “Strengthened social and child protection systems and educational systems in BiH for the provision of inclusive services and prevention of institutional care for children”.
The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina also has a Law on foster care, which precisely specifies the principles of foster care, i.e. the conditions for foster care, types and number of foster parents, eligibility for foster care, foster care contract, foster care allowance and support for foster care, obligations, responsibilities and rights of foster parents and the center for social work.
