American football player Weston McKennie, speaking to TNT Sports, revealed how coach Igor Tudor motivated him to start taking care of his body more seriously.
“The preparations were long, and Tudor was constantly on top of me. He told me: ‘Be careful, you’re not a kid anymore, your body won’t recover like it used to. You have to lose weight, that’s the only way to be part of this team.’ I understood the message and threw myself into work,” said the 27-year-old midfielder.
“I calmed down and started a diet. No more unhealthy snacks – possibly some healthy ones, but also a lot more training. I spent the summer running, and for the first time I had no problem taking off my shirt at the pool,” he added with a smile.
McKennie has been wearing the Juventus jersey for five years, is a standard member of the American national team, and has played 189 games for the Turin club, scoring 18 goals and registering 19 assists.
Transfermarkt estimates his value at 22 million euros.
