US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he will not attend the wedding of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. and Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson for state duties in Washington.
In a post on the Truth Social social network, Trump stated that he wanted to be with his son and future daughter-in-law, but that circumstances related to government affairs did not allow him to do so.
– Although I really wanted to be with my son Don Jr. and the newest member of the Trump family, his future wife Bettina, circumstances related to state duties and my love for the United States of America do not allow me to do this – wrote Trump.
He added that he considers it important to stay in Washington, in the White House, during “this important period”.
According to CNN, the wedding will take place over the weekend on a small island in the Bahamas, citing two people familiar with the plans.
Trump told reporters on Thursday that his son wanted to attend the ceremony, but that it would be a “small private event.” He then stated that he would try to come, but that the current circumstances were not in his favor.

The US administration is currently engaged in diplomatic talks, brokered by Pakistan, aimed at reaching an agreement to end the war with Iran launched by the US and Israel on February 28, which has caused disruptions in the global economy.
