US President Donald Trump assessed the negotiations with Iran as “constructive”, noting that “time is on Washington’s side” and that the US naval blockade against Iran will remain in force until an agreement is reached.
“The negotiations are proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner, and I have told my representatives not to rush the agreement because time is on our side. The blockade will remain in full force and effect until the agreement is reached, certified and signed. Both sides must take their time and do it right. There must be no mistakes!”, Trump wrote.
He reiterated his claim that any deal with Iran would be better than the one previously reached by the Barack Obama administration, saying the new deal would be the complete opposite of the previous one.
“Our relationship with Iran is becoming much more professional and productive,” Trump added, stressing that Iran must not develop or acquire nuclear weapons.
“I would like to thank, for now, all the countries of the Middle East for their support and cooperation, which will be further enhanced and strengthened by their joining the countries of the historic Abrahamic Agreements, and who knows, maybe the Islamic Republic of Iran would like to join as well! Thank you for your attention to this issue,” said Trump.
According to media reports, final talks are underway on a possible peace between the US and Iran following the escalation that began on February 28. However, Iranian sources state that there are still certain issues that have not been resolved.
