The government stated that five billion dollars of federal funds were reduced for the famous university and announced that they would consider the payment of the remaining money, the Joint State, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
Columbia University was the center of protests in which students demanded the interruption of U.S. support from the Israel due to civilian casualties and humanitarian crisis caused by Israeli attacks on Gaza.
The charges of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia appeared during protests and the counterpoustest. The University previously stated that they invested efforts to combat anti-Semitism.
“The abolition of these US taxpayers is the strongest sign so that the Federal Government does not intend to support the educational institution such as Columbia,” Leo Terrell, the leaders of the Ministry of Justice to fight anti-Semitism, Hina reports.
So far, it is not known which research, projects and activities of Columbia will be affected by this move.
