With a convincing triumph in the slalom in Špindlerův Mlyn, the American skier Mikaela Shiffrin achieved a new victory in the World Cup, but also secured the Small Crystal Globe in this discipline. Zrinka Ljutić failed to finish the second run.
Ljutić had starting number 15, and after the first lauf and a solid ride she was 13. with a gap of 2.52 seconds behind the leader Shiffrin. But in the second run in the middle of the track, Zrinka made a mistake and gave up.
This is already fifth time this season that last year’s winner of the Small Globe, Zrinka Ljutić, does not finish the slalom race.
Leona Popovic was 4.19 seconds behind Shiffrin in the first race, which was enough for her in the 39th place.
In the Czech Republic, Shiffrin once again beat all her competitors in both events, recording her 108th victory in the World Cup, and securing the Small Crystal Globe in slalom, her ninth in her career.
The second was the Swiss Camille Rast (+1.67), and the third was the German Emma Aicher (2.18).

In order of slalom Shiffrin has 780 pointsan unattainable 288 more than Rast, while Ljutić dropped to 21st place with 79 points.
Mikaela Shiffrin leads the overall standings with 1133 points, and Rast is second with 963. Ljutić is 16th with 286 points.
This was the last slalom before the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina.
