The United States and Switzerland have reached a trade deal, US Trade Representative Jamison Greer said, while the Swiss government announced that US tariffs on Swiss goods would be reduced from 39 to 15 percent.

In the announcement of the government in Bern, published on platform X, it was added that Swiss companies will invest about 200 billion dollars in the USA by the end of 2028, reported CNBC. This agreement ended months of negotiations on lowering US tariffs on Swiss goods, and the new 15 percent tariff puts the US on par with trade with European Union countries, Japan and South Korea.

Greer pointed out that Switzerland will direct a large part of production to the US, primarily in the sectors of pharmacology, gold smelting and railway equipment manufacturing. “This agreement will mean a lot for American manufacturing,” he said.

The US trade representative added that more details about the agreement, which has been in the works since April, will be published later on the official White House website. The agreement is expected to further improve economic relations between the two countries, opening up new investment and production opportunities for the American market.
