The armed man in front of the White House shot members of the American Secret Service, the Agency announced soon after the incident.
President Donald Trump was not in the White House at the time.
According to Anthony Gugliemia, the head communication of the Secret Service, the agents have previously received information about the “person with the intention of suicide” that traveled from Indiana to Washington, conveys CNN.
“Members of the Secret Service noticed a person who fits the description near the White House and found her parked car,” Gugliel cited in the statement.
“As the cops approached her, the person pulled out a firearm, after which there was an armed conflict and our agents opened fire.”
The man was transported to the hospital, but his current health condition is unknown.
The secret service states that none of their members are injured.
Guglielmi added that the Department of Internal Affairs and Investigations of the Washington Police was conducting an investigation into the incident in charge of cases involving police officers in the United States city.
