When the Red Cross of Tešanj municipality started the project a little more than a year ago “Care and help at home”many wondered whether it would come to life and whether the local community would recognize its importance.
Today, one year later, the project has proven to be an example of successful care for the elderly and infirm, with concrete results and great trust from users.
Through the project “Aging and health / care and help at home”Red Cross Tešanj is currently hiring five employees and benefits two vehicles – one donated by of the Swiss Red Cross in BiHand the other from local businessmen. During the past year it was provided close to 8,000 services for more than 65 users across the municipality, including home help, care and social support.
Thanks to partners and support Municipality of Tešanjthe project is developing in the direction long-term and stable solution. Currently, 80% of funding is secured through Office of the Swiss Red Cross in Bosnia and Herzegovinawhile the remaining 20% covers Municipality of Tešanj. The signing is planned in the coming months new four-year contractby which the Municipality would gradually take over the full financing, which would make the project a permanent service available to all citizens who need help in their own home.
“The project was born out of the belief that every elderly person deserves attention, security and support. In this way, we show that caring for the elderly is not a one-time help, but a permanent responsibility of the community,” said the Red Cross of Tešanj municipality.
