The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (MUP ZDK) has been using a modern video surveillance system in official vehicles for a while, using the Renate software solution (national table register). It is a technologically advanced tool that enables automatic recognition of license plates (LPR – License Plate Recognition), real-time traffic violations and continuous shooting of everything that happens around the police vehicle.
Internal Affairs Minister ZDK Emir Vraco confirmed that the system was already introduced and that 12 sets of equipment were procured, each containing six supervisory cameras and specialized software tablets. The cameras are built into rotations on police vehicles and allow you to record 360 degrees. The tablets are highly resistant to moisture, dust and physical strikes, and the NVR (Network Video Recorder) system can automatically store recordings for at least 15 days.
The Renata system operates by scanning the license plates of all vehicles near and in seconds showing important data – from the registration status, the vehicle owner, to any warrants or unpaid sentences. In this way, police officers have an efficient and accurate tool for checking the situation on the ground without stopping each vehicle.
Cameras can automatically recognize a wide range of offenses – such as improper parking, driving in the opposite direction, switching over full line, driving without helmet, as well as identifying unregistered or technically defective vehicles. In addition to monitoring the offense, the system enables more transparent monitoring of police work, as all activities are recorded, which increases responsibility and protection and citizens and police officers.
Along with the cameras, 72 movable LPR systems are already integrated, and all data are recorded in the Central Renata Software base. PURCHASE OF SPECIAL SERVERS AND MULTIMEDIile equipment is also underway, which will enable the advanced analysis of the recorded material and faster violation processing.
Prime Minister ZDK Nezir Pivić emphasized that security is one of the priorities in this budget year and that this technology would significantly assist in the prevention of criminal offenses and misdemeanors. He also announced the initiative to higher police levels, especially BiH’s border police, in order to establish the possibility of collecting punishes to drivers of foreign registration marks during the crossing of the border.
The introduction of the Renata system is an important step forward towards the digitization and modernization of the work of the police, and is expected to contribute to greater security in traffic in the area of Zenica-Doboj Canton, writes Techpulse.
