US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced on Friday that she was resigning, ending a tenure during which she was said to be at odds with President Donald Trump, particularly over Iran policy.
Gabbard said in a letter to Trump, which she posted on the X social network, that she was leaving office to devote herself to her husband after he was diagnosed with an “extremely rare form of bone cancer.”
Her resignation marks the end of a tenure in one of the highest positions in the US intelligence system, at a time when relations within the administration have been marked by political disagreements and internal tensions.
