The delegation of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton led by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić attended the ceremonial session of the Doboj South Municipal Council on the occasion of March 21 – Doboj South Municipality Day.
The delegation included the Minister of the Interior Emir Vračo, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Jasmin Čajić, the Minister of Economy Samir Šibonjić and the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mirza Mušija.
Doboj Jug Municipality Day is celebrated on March 21, and the date was set in memory of March 21, 1998, when the first Constituent Session of the Municipal Council was held after the establishment of new municipalities. The same date is also celebrated as the Day of the Battle of Karuše, one of the key anti-tank battles for the defense of this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Municipal Mayor Mirnes Tukić thanked the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton for the partnership and support, stressing that the Cantonal Government is the largest investor in almost all development projects in this municipality. Thanks to such support, he emphasized, the municipality of Doboj Jug has built quality infrastructure, and its developed economy has an important place in the economy of this canton.
Prime Minister Nezir Pivić reiterated that the Government is committed to equal development and fair distribution of goods and that it is ready to participate in development projects in all local self-government units so that all citizens of this canton have equally good conditions for life and work.
– Doboj Jug is an example of how one should and can act on a micro level, without quarrels and that everyone is dedicated to one goal – common betterment and development. I am especially glad to see the projects that have been implemented in this municipality. And we won’t stop there. The government is determined to support the development of this municipality, and soon we plan to approve funds for the construction of a gymnasium, which will serve our students and all citizens – said Prime Minister Pivić.
He congratulated all the participants of the spectacular battle on Karuše for their courage and contribution to the defense of BiH, saying that this battle deserves to be studied at military academies around the world.
As a sign of gratitude for the partnership and support, Mayor Tukić presented certificates of appreciation to Prime Minister Pivić and ministers, as well as to the director of the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection, Džavid Aličić.
The delegation of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton laid flowers and paid tribute to the martyrs and fallen fighters of the municipality of Doboj Jug.
