The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment of the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Mugdim Omanović, known as “Mugda”, born in 1984 in Bugojno.
Omanović is charged that on February 4 of this year, in Mostar, where he was on the run from serving his prison sentence in Busovača Prison, during his deprivation of liberty, in order to prevent his arrest, he threatened SIPA employees by activating a hand grenade that he held in his hand.
With the intervention of SIPA police officers, the suspect was overpowered and prevented from activating the explosive device.

The suspect fled
The indictment states that, after spotting the said person, SIPA members got out of the official vehicle, parked at the specified location near the apartment, which was known to be used by the suspect, and headed towards him with the aim of identifying him, so that after spotting the said police officers, the suspect would run away.
The suspect, with the intention of preventing them from undertaking official actions within their jurisdiction, took out of his jacket pocket a hand grenade with a lighter and a spoon from which he removed the fuse, and which hand grenade he held without authorization, knowing that the acquisition of such explosive materials by citizens is not allowed at all.
“After the aforementioned police officers caught up with him at the location in Kralja Tomislava street to number 59 in Mostar, seeing that the suspect was holding a hand grenade in his hand, from which he had previously pulled the fuse, threatening to drop it, saying that he would not return to prison alive and that he would take the lives of himself and the police officers present, after which he intended to subdue him, the police officer grabbed his hand in the area of the hand where he was holding the bomb, while the suspect was trying to free that hand in order to activate the bomb, while saying, “I will kill both myself and you because I am not going back to prison alive”, it is stated.
And it doesn’t end there. Omanović continued to resist. The other members of SIPA could not overcome him either, and the whole case almost turned into a tragedy.
“After which the police officer tells his other colleagues to move away because he is running out of strength and is no longer able to hold the suspect’s hand and that he expects the bomb in his hand to explode, or to help him, and after letting go of his hand, the suspect is immediately approached by a police officer who in the meantime took out his service pistol from the holster and grabs the suspect by the hand that contained the bomb, and then grabs him by that hand and the police officer, while both of them try to release the grip of the hand the suspect in order to take the bomb from him, who repeatedly said “let me kill myself”, according to the indictment.
The indictment states that Omanović continued to resist and continued to threaten, and the SIPA police officer, aware that he could no longer hold the suspect, who continued to offer physical resistance, and that the use of force in the form of the use of firearms was absolutely necessary to protect the lives of the persons present, told the police officers present to “shoot”.

“After that, the police officer, with a loud warning given to the suspect that he was going to use a firearm, took out his service pistol from which he fired one shot in the direction of the suspect’s right foot, and after that, the suspect continued to offer physical resistance to them, still holding a hand grenade, and after warning the suspect again that he was going to use a firearm, he fired a second shot in the direction of the said suspect’s foot, after which he still did not stop offering physical resistance, saying “Shoot in the head, kill me”, and after firing a third shot into his right foot, the suspect’s resistance weakened, and then the police officer took the bomb, the indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH states.
It is interesting that Omanović did not stop there either. “When handcuffs were placed on his hands by a police officer, he tried to take the service pistol from him, which was on his belt, but he did not succeed”
