In the Mostar settlement of Šehovina, the 3rd Traditional Mahal Futsal Tournament was officially opened last night, a sports event that brings together an increasing number of teams, sports enthusiasts and futsal fans every year.
The organizer of the tournament is the Association of Citizens “NOVA SNAGA”. At the very opening, the national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina was sung and fireworks were set off.
Alen Boškailo, a member of the Citizens’ Association “NOVA SNAGA” and a member of the Organizing Committee, addressed those present at the opening, who thanked all the teams, sponsors, volunteers and citizens for their support. He pointed out that the goal of the organizers is for the tournament to become a recognizable sports tradition of Mostar, stressing that the large number of registered teams and the quality of matches from previous years confirm that the tournament has already taken an important place on the sports map of the city.
“We are particularly pleased with the presence of a large number of children and young people who develop healthy habits, friendships and sportsmanship through sports. This is the greatest value of this tournament,” said Boškailo.
He also thanked numerous renowned sponsors who supported the organization of the tournament, emphasizing that the general sponsor of this year’s manifestation is the City Board of SDA Mostar.
After him, the Minister of Finance of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Adil Šuta, addressed the audience on behalf of the Government of HNK, which is the golden sponsor of the tournament.
“Good evening everyone and welcome to the futsal tournament in Šehovina 2026. It is my honor to greet you on behalf of the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and the Ministry of Finance of the HNK. Supporting sports and events like this is an investment in the community, healthy lifestyle habits, teamwork, discipline and fair play, especially among young people,” the minister pointed out.
He especially emphasized that the tournament brings together teams, the neighborhood and friends, and that through sports it builds togetherness and positive energy. He thanked the organizers for their efforts, the teams for their participation, the judges for their professional work and the audience for their support and creating a great atmosphere.
In his address, he pointed out that Šehovina shows that the tournament grows year after year and raises the standards of the organization, reminding that this Mostar settlement has the champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina in futsal, Samir Gosta, who successfully represents his region and achieves notable sports results.
In the end, he wished all the participants a lot of sports luck, a fair and correct game, without injuries, and that the tournament takes place in the best atmosphere with top futsal.
The third traditional mahal futsal tournament in Šehovina continues in the coming days, and the organizers expect a large number of visitors and interesting matches that will once again confirm the importance of this sports event for Mostar and its local community.
