Russia is conducting forced proverning in occupied areas with the aim of strengthening the control and deletion of the Ukrainian identity of residents under occupation.
In the village of ASKANIA-Nova, located in the occupied area, parents openly threatened with confiscation of children or loss of parental rights if they do not accept Russian citizenship. ASKANIA-Nova is about 52 kilometers away from the parts of the Herson area under the control of Ukraine.
According to the National Resistance Center, Ukrainian civilians in occupied zones without a Russian passport cannot get medical advice, they cannot pass military checkpoints and are exposed to mobilization hazards.
“Parents are blackmailed through their children, and children are blackmailed through the educational system. Today, in occupied areas are simply impossible to survive without Russian documents,” said the legal advisor to the Regional Center for Human Raševska for Kyiv Independent.
