The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Telegram that Russia would carry out “systematic attacks” on facilities linked to Ukraine’s military-industrial complex in Kiev after what it described as a “bloody attack” on a college building and student dormitory in the Russian-occupied part of Luhansk Oblast, in which 21 students were killed.
“All this has reached the breaking point,” the Russian ministry said.
Moscow claims that the targets will be locations where Ukrainian drones are designed, manufactured and prepared “with the help of NATO experts”.
“The strikes will also be aimed at decision-making centers and command posts,” the press release states.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier said that four people were killed and around 100 were injured in the Russian overnight attacks, which Moscow claimed were in response to a Ukrainian strike on a college building in Starobilsk.
Russian authorities announced that the death toll in the attack had risen to 21 after the search and rescue operation ended on Sunday.
Ukraine rejected the Russian accusations and said that its forces target only military infrastructure and facilities that serve military purposes, with “strict respect for international humanitarian law and the rules of war.”
Independent verification of both sides’ claims remains difficult due to the ongoing war since 2022.
