US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that an agreement with Iran that would formally end the war in the Middle East could be announced during Sunday.
– I think there may be a possibility that in the next few hours the world will get good news – Rubio told reporters in New Delhi, during his first visit to India.
He stated that the new agreement should address the United States’ concerns regarding the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has partially blocked in response to US-Israeli attacks.
According to him, the agreement would start a process that, as he pointed out, would lead to the goal of the US administration – a world in which there is no fear of Iranian nuclear weapons.
His remarks came after US President Donald Trump said earlier that a proposal involving the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz was “largely agreed”.
– The agreement has been largely agreed, with final confirmation between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran and other countries involved – Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.
