About 30 to 40 people were trapped after a nine-story building under construction collapsed in the Philippine city of Angeles City, local officials said.
According to city services, eight people who were near the construction site were rescued, while another 11 people, including the construction site manager, managed to leave the building before the complete collapse.
The city spokesman stated that between 30 and 40 workers are still missing, and that search and rescue teams are on the ground and are working intensively to extract the buried.
For now, the cause of the collapse is unknown. City engineers are currently analyzing documentation and construction history to determine the circumstances of the accident.
Rescue teams warn that the operation could be difficult due to the concrete structure and large amounts of rubble, which slows access to possible survivors.
In the meantime, damage to electrical lines in the vicinity of the construction site was also reported. Authorities urged residents to avoid the area and cooperate with emergency services to allow rescuers to work smoothly and prevent further hazards.
