The new line, which started operating on Saturday, will have five stations and will be connected to the city’s subway.
It is expected that around 11,000 passengers will use it daily. Travel time from terminal to terminal will be 18 minutes, compared to 40 minutes by bus.
The project cost almost 138 million euros. There will be 10 seats in each cabin.
The operator explained that the cable car was chosen as a means of transport because the area is crossed by freight and high-speed railway lines, while the existing traffic corridors are extremely congested.
The southern French city of Toulouse has a similar cable car three kilometers long, while slightly shorter lines exist in Barcelona and London.
AFP reminds that there are also alpine cable cars of a similar length, while even longer city cable cars exist in Bolivia’s La Paz and Colombia’s Medellín.
