Rafah border crossing was opened for the first time after almost nine months to make sick and wounded Palestinian patients in Gaza were allowed to travel to Egypt for treatment.
The Health Ministry in Gaza, on Saturday, said a group of 50 patients would cross the border and come to Egypt.
Egyptian television showed the ambulance of the Palestinian Red Cross approaching the transition, and several children were presented on the stretcher and transferred to emergency room vehicles on the Egyptian side.
The reopening of Rafah crossings is significant progress towards the fire break-up agreement that Israel and Hamas arranged earlier this month.
Israel agreed to reopen the transition after Hamas released the last living prisoners in Gaza, transmits Aljazeera.
