The ceasefire in the four-year war was supposed to begin on Saturday and last until Sunday, according to the Kremlin.
“An enemy drone attack” hit a store and a cafe in the central city of Poltava, killing one person and wounding another, the head of the regional military administration, Vitalii Diakivnych, announced on Telegram.
In the northeastern region of Sumy, which borders Russia, drone attacks on residential areas wounded 14 people, including a 14-year-old boy and an 87-year-old woman, said Oleg Grygorov, head of the regional military administration.
The two sides also declared a short-term truce last year during the Orthodox Easter. However, this lull comes at a time of stagnation in efforts to stop the Russian invasion, while the attention of the United States of America is now more focused on the conflicts in the Middle East.
