Olympiakos is the champion of Europe

Real opened the match better and imposed an aggressive rhythm of the game from the very beginning. Trey Lyles was especially in a good mood, who gave the Madrid team an early advantage with a series of points. After the first quarter, Real had control over the game and a lead of 26:19.

However, the Greek representative managed to get back into the match thanks to the excellent games of Evan Fournier and Sasha Vezenkov, while Nigel Williams Goss kept the rhythm of Olympiakos in the important moments of the second quarter.

At the beginning of the second half, there was a lot of tension on the floor after the clash between Facundo Campazzo and Shaquielle McKissic. The referees reacted quickly and calmed down the situation, and both players were penalized with technical fouls.

During the game, Real Madrid managed to gain a significant advantage several times, mostly thanks to Mario Hezonja, Andrés Feliz and the cheerful Abalde, but Olympiakos had an answer each time.

In the decisive moments of the last quarter, Vezenkov, Fournier and McKissic took charge in the Greek team, while Campazzo and Maledon tried to keep Real in the game.

The end of the meeting was extremely dramatic. Olympiakos reached a four-point lead a minute and a half before the end, and an additional problem for Real came after Mario Hezonja’s missed three-pointer. In the continuation of the action, Fournier won a foul, after which the Greek team hit two free throws and further increased the advantage.

The drama continued in the last 20 seconds. With the score 88:83, Campazzo was fouled when attempting a three-point shot, after which Real managed to get three points behind. However, Feliz’s attempt for a new three-pointer did not end up in the basket.

Until the end of the match, Olympiakos kept the advantage and reached the title of European champion for the first time since 2013.
