Oil prices fell to near two-month lows today, primarily due to ongoing risks of oversupply, as investors monitor developments regarding a possible new round of peace talks on Ukraine.

Brent oil hovered around $61.1 per barrel, while American WTI crude oil (West Texas Intermediate) was around $57.4 per barrel, reports Trading Economics.

Although diplomatic activities have continued, the fighting in Ukraine has not subsided. Ukraine has attacked oil warehouses and refineries in several Russian regions with drones, which further affects the level of supplies in Russia.

Oil prices are also affected by increasing pressure from the United States on Venezuela, including the seizure of tankers and the imposition of new sanctions on ships and associates of President Nicolas Maduro, while US troops increase their military presence in the region.

At the same time, Iran announced that it had seized a foreign tanker in the Gulf of Oman for allegedly smuggling fuel, further complicating the global oil trade.

Markets are now carefully monitoring all these factors, trying to assess the possible consequences for supply and price stability in the coming period.
