Marco Odermatt raced down the World Cup downhill race in Val Gardena on Saturday, one of the few classics missing from the Swiss skier’s collection.
The 27-year-old, who finished third in the super-G in the Italian Dolomites on Friday, finished 0.45 seconds ahead of compatriot Franz von Allmen who edged out American Ryan Cochran-Siegle who was just 0.46 seconds behind.

It was Odermatt’s 40th World Cup win and third this winter following his successes in the super-G in Beaver Creek, Colorado and the giant slalom in Val d’Isere, France.
Odermatt moved to the top of the overall World Cup standings with 440 points – 50 points ahead of Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen.
Kristoffersen, a specialist in technical disciplines, will compete in giant slalom and slalom in Alta Badia, also in Italy, on Sunday and Monday.
