NK Široki Brijeg will start the next half-season with a new coach. The club announced on its official website that the cooperation with the previous coach Dean Klafurić was terminated.
NK Široki Brijeg and head of professional staff Dean Klafurić scored mutual termination of the contract. During his mandate, Klafurić showed professionalism, dedication to work and maximum effort. The club hereby thanks coach Klafurić for his work, professionalism and contribution so far and wishes him good luck and success in the continuation of his coaching career.they announced from Pecare.
Klafurić arrived in Široka Brijeg in December 2024 taking over the role of head coach and sports director for half a season, and he had a contract until the summer of 2026.
The club from Pecare led in 43 official matches in the BiH Cup and BiH WWin League, achieving 17 wins, 14 losses and 12 draws.
The last time under his leadership Široki Brijeg celebrated in the 1/16 finals of the BiH Cup in a match against Gradine on October 28, and they recorded their last victory in the WWin league in the frame 11th car played on October 19 against Miner on Pecara.
In the past season at one point, the club even found itself in the fight for survival, and in the end it finished in fifth place in the league table and in the final of the BiH Cup, where the team from Sarajevo convincingly celebrated after two meetings (4:0, 1:1).
Let us remind you that the changes in NK Široki Brijeg started two weeks ago, when the director and members of the Supervisory Board resignedand today’s announcement is the first information from the club since then. The media, and thus the public, are not aware of what happened in the past period in the Pecare club, nor when preparations for the second part of the season will officially begin.
