Brazil’s Neymar suffered a minor calf injury but is expected to recover in time to join the Brazil national team next week ahead of the World Cup, which starts on June 11 in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer, 34-year-old Neymar was called up to the national team on Monday, marking his return after a lengthy injury lay-off that kept him out of most qualifiers.
Brazilian selector Carlo Ancelottiwho took charge of Brazil last year, did not previously invite the former Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain forward, who now plays for Santos and is set to appear in his fourth World Cup in a bid to win his first world title.

Neymar has minor injury list, edemaRodrigo Zogaib, head of Santos’ medical service, told Brazil’s ge.globo on Wednesday.
But according to our planning, his progress will enable him to be ready next week when he will join the national team.
Neymar, who scored 79 goals in 128 internationals match and has not featured for Brazil since 2023, he remains under scrutiny for his fitness and form.
His stay at Saudi club Al-Hilal was interrupted by injuries and he returned to his boyhood club Santos last year, but struggled to regain his form.
Brazil opens the World Cup in Group C against Morocco on June 13 in New Jersey, followed by games against Haiti and Scotland.

Also, before the start of the championship on May 31, they will play a friendly match against Panama on May 31 and Egypt on June 6.
