Today, the police administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Zenica-Doboj Canton promoted 98 cadets who, after completing the training, took the oath, signed work contracts and officially joined the ranks of the MUP of the ZDK. The ceremony was held at the Center for Education and Accommodation of the Special Police Unit in Zenica.
MUP ZDK, like most police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, faces a shortage of personnel, so the new 98 police officers will significantly strengthen the police ranks.
– Today is a special day for MUP ZDK and for our community. Before us stand 98 new cadets who, with their courage, loyalty and expertise, will become pillars of our community’s security. Your journey in the MUP of the ZDK begins today, and I believe that each of you will contribute to the construction of a stable and safe society with your work – said Prime Minister of the ZDK Nezir Pivić.
In recent years, the ZDK government has been investing significant funds in equipping and improving the efficiency of the MUP.
– Stable finances enabled us to strengthen the institutions that take care of citizens’ safety. The budget of the MUP ZDK for 2025 was increased by 42.13%, and capital investments increased from 1.8 to 10.2 million KM. In addition, almost 5 million KM have been set aside for the purchase of new uniforms – said Prime Minister Pivić.
The Prime Minister added that new vehicles, modern equipment, radars, drones and communication systems were acquired. The tender for the procurement of armored vehicles, whose delivery is expected at the beginning of 2026, has been concluded. For the first time since 1997, the armament was renewed, and the acquisition of a helicopter worth 8.2 million KM, which will be available to the MUP, is underway.
ZDK Minister of Internal Affairs Emir Vračo pointed out that this is an important day not only for 98 cadets, but also for all citizens who believe in a safe, just and dignified BiH.
– The oath you take today symbolizes knowledge, honor and professionalism. From today your behavior will be a mirror of that oath. Let every uniform you wear be a symbol of trust and honesty – Minister Vračo said.
Admir Gazić, Commissioner of the Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the ZDK, emphasized that he believes that the young cadets will live up to expectations and be a source of pride for the ZDK Police Directorate.
In the end, Prime Minister Pivić told the cadets that dedication, courage, fairness and responsibility are expected from them – qualities that adorn successful police officers and people.
