According to announcements, the latest version of the proposed peace agreement will be discussed, and the Trump administration wants to reach an agreement by Christmas.
According to the world media, the presence of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is expected in Berlin. Ukraine has already submitted a revised peace plan to the US, but the fate of the eastern territories, especially Donbass, remains the biggest obstacle. Kiev refuses concessions, while Moscow threatens to take over the region completely if Ukrainian forces do not withdraw.
Zelenskiy expressed doubts about the proposal that envisages the withdrawal of the Ukrainian army and turning the area into a special economic zone, warning that there are no guarantees that Russia will not continue to advance.
Meanwhile, the European Union reached an agreement to permanently freeze around 210 billion euros of Russian assets, with the aim of using those funds to help Ukraine, which is facing a large financial deficit. The Kremlin strongly condemned this move, announcing legal action.
