German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and several European leaders in Berlin next week to discuss the latest developments in peace talks, his office said on Friday.
On Monday, Merz will first hold bilateral talks with Zelensky on economic support to Ukraine and discuss the latest diplomatic initiatives, German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius announced in a statement, Anadolia reports.
– In the evening, numerous European heads of state and government, as well as high representatives of the EU and NATO, will join the discussions – said Kornelius, without giving further details about the participants or the agenda of the meeting.
Merz confirmed on Thursday that Kiev and its European allies have developed a new peace proposal for Ukraine, which deals with territorial issues.
He said the proposal would be discussed with US officials over the weekend, adding that US participation in the planned meeting in Berlin would largely depend on the joint drafting of documents currently being worked on.
