A drone strike on Tuesday killed 28 people and wounded 23 others when it hit a market in the Sudanese town of Ghubaysh, which is in West Kordofan province and is controlled by paramilitary forces, a medical source and three witnesses told AFP.
Two witnesses said the drone hit a crowded restaurant in the city’s main market, and attributed the attack to the Sudanese army, which has been at war with the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF) since April 2023.
Another witness stated that the RSF vehicle was hit first, and “three people in the vehicle were killed, and the vehicle was destroyed, before the drone hit the restaurant.” A medical source confirmed that the injured were taken to a hospital in Ghubaysh.
