Lawyer Vasvija Vidović was legally sentenced to six months for helping the then arrested President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ranko Debevac, to hide evidence.
– The Council of the Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina passed, after the hearing, on 10.3.2026. publicly announced the second-instance verdict in the criminal case against the accused Vasvija Vidović, by which the accused Vasvija Vidović was declared guilty of having committed the criminal offense of preventing evidence under Article 236, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the actions described in the sentence.
The court sentenced the accused to a prison sentence of six (6) months, in which sentence the time of the accused’s deprivation of liberty in connection with the criminal offense, from 18.12.2023, is included. until 20.12.2023. year.
The accused was declared guilty of 18.12.2023. year, around 6:00 p.m., after she entered the official premises of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection, as a defense attorney for the then suspect RD, and when the suspect RD was allowed to communicate privately with the accused Vasvija Vidović as a defense attorney, in a special room of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection, aware of her illegal actions and wanting to do so, and after RD took out a mobile phone from the bag he kept with him and handed it to him to her, the accused Vasvija Vidović, aware and knowing that the said mobile phone should be temporarily confiscated by order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that it serves as evidence in the criminal proceedings against RD, took the phone in a manner known to her and hid it in her bag, with the aim of making it much more difficult to prove illegal actions in the criminal proceedings against RD before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina by hiding the mobile phone that serves as evidence. No appeal is allowed against this verdict.
As a reminder, the first-instance verdict of 5 February 2025. year, the accused Vasvija Vidović was found guilty of having committed the criminal offense of preventing evidence under Article 236, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which she was sentenced to one (1) year in prison by the actions described in the factual part of the sentence. The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the defense of the accused filed an appeal against the said verdict. The Council of the Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in consideration of the joint appeal of the defense of the accused, in a decision dated October 9, 2025. year, annulled the said judgment and ordered the holding of the trial before the panel of the Appellate Division., it says Avaz.
