At the Edhem Mulabdić Cultural Center in Maglaj, yesterday, November 24, on the occasion of the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a forum Homeland in the Heart – Responsibility in Action was held, organized by the Municipal Organization of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Maglaj.
The president of SDA Bakir Izetbegović addressed those present at the forum, who, answering the questions of the program leader, pointed out that the success achieved in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the aggression is also measured on the basis of the resistance offered to it.
If there was no ZAVNOBiH, there would be no independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina later. He wasn’t perfect. First of all, he did not recognize our people enough. There were always those who counted on the fact that time would wear us out and that eventually this country would be divided. Through the decision on independence, the next big step was taken, but we received an answer in the form of aggression. They failed to win, they failed to divide BiH. What followed was a miracle of Bosnian resistance. The Dayton Peace Agreement was again not perfect, but we continued to improve it. The RS had its army, its border service, its intelligence service, its indirect tax service… It is not the same to go on a plain, a clean road that is not bumpy, and to go on a macadam road uphill while two people bother you and slow down the road. That’s exactly how we’ve been moving for the last 35 years. We made a huge effort and I think, taking into account those resistances, we did a great job. Despite everything, we are moving forward – said Izetbegović.
Speaking about the role of young people in the SDA and politics in general, Izetbegović singled out the Mayor of Maglaj Municipality, Maida Suljaković, who, he said, is a peer of the SDA’s first victory in 1990: “I personally made an effort to open space for young people in the SDA. In the SDA Presidency, I created two positions for those under 35. Of course, young people will become wiser and more experienced with age. Especially in politics. However, young people also bring new energy. They are the future, The perspective is on them. It is up to us to pass on knowledge to them. That’s why young people will always get a chance at SDA.”
– The task of the future federal prime minister will be to continue the good work done by Fadil Novalić. When his Government was formed in 2015, I promised that we would create 100,000 jobs in the next ten years. Then various journalists and analysts raced to make fun of my statement. And it didn’t happen as I promised because we created 100,000 jobs in six years. This made a sick Federation, such as Nikšić left to Novalić, to heal. He made all economic parameters positive. Our goal will be the end of poverty, a better life for citizens. At the moment, one average salary in FBiH covers only 50 percent of the consumer basket. In five years, I want it to improve by 50 percent, in ten years by 100 percent. We promise double salaries in eight to ten years, double pensions in eight to ten years. SDA can do that – said Izetbegović.
He added that the most destroyed parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina after the aggression were those where Bosniaks are the majority, and that it is precisely those parts that are the most successful today, which, he said, is a confirmation of ability and knowledge.
Speaking about the SDA’s proposal for the Law on Proportional Representation, Izetbegović said that the law is opposed by those who strive for domination and apartheid: “If you let someone give you your right, you will not get it. When you try to rise from that position, then they will shout that you strive for domination. The law is a tool that implements the Constitution, and the Constitution is clear. The entire structure of government must be in accordance with the structure of the population. We must create a tool with sanctions that will punish those who they will not carry out.”
In the conclusion of his address, Izetbegović emphasized the importance of unity, which is “undermined by the actions of foreign power centers and intelligence services”: “It is up to us to be like a father in the house, to forgive some bad things, not to forget them, and to unite. This country has two serious problems. One is an attack on its constitutional and legal order, and that is a minor problem. Those who carry out that attack are exhausting themselves. Citizens of the RS entities live much worse than citizens of the FBiH. we need harmony in a pro-Bosnian bloc. Another, more difficult problem is the aging of the population. We are becoming a country of old people. That’s why we need a strong, united pro-Bosnian people They are scattered all over the world. Our people in emigration can change the direction of the country, but we have fighters who have grown up in difficult circumstances. We need to combine all that strength.”
The president of KO SDA ZDK Nermin Mandra, president of OO SDA Maglaj Enes Sejmenović, prime minister of ZDK Nezir Pivić and mayor of Maglaj municipality Maid Suljaković also spoke at the forum.
Before the forum, Izetbegović met with the members of the Executive Board of the OO SDA Maglaj, and laid flowers and recited the Fatiha at the Central Memorial to Martyrs and Fallen Fighters, Avaz writes.
