Borghi stated on his YouTube channel that he considers the appointment of Dzeko a big failure by the management of the club from Florence.
According to him, there were expectations that Dzeko could still offer quality at a high level, especially since he arrived at Fiorentina who were undergoing a rejuvenation process with high ambitions.
However, as Borghi claims, these expectations have not been met.
He pointed out that Dzeko did not have a real effect during his stay at the club, stressing that he never seemed physically ready, nor did he respond to the demands of the game on the field. He especially underlined that he lacked intensity.
Borghi also referred to the experienced striker’s attempts to show leadership off the field, stating that the talks with the fans could not make up for what, in his opinion, was missing on the field.
He believes that Dzeko should have sent messages with games and performance, which did not happen.
Fiorentina is currently in last place in the Serie A table with only nine points.
On Sunday, the team from Florence welcomes Cremonese at home in the 18th round of the Italian championship.
