While the conflict between Iran and Israel is further harvested, the Iranian revolutionary guard announced the possible use of the Khaibar rocket in response to Israeli strokes during the night, with the dramatic claims that “the world would be shocked.”
The message comes after the most severe attacks between the two countries so far, and Iranian authorities and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have announced the continuation of military operations.
Khaibar is a rocket on liquid fuel with a range of 2,000 kilometers and a combat head of 1,500 kg.
It was named after the Khaybar fortress, which is located in today’s Saudi Arabia, and is known for its decisive battle in the seventh century in which the army of Muhammad defeated thousands of Jewish residents. The name therefore has a symbolic weight in Iranian rhetoric to Israel.
The rocket was presented for the first time on 25. May 2023, at the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahra in the Iranian-Iraqi war, with the presence of the Minister of Defense Mohammad Eshtiani. Then he was also successfully tested, which caused the concerns of Israel and the United States.

It belongs to the Modern Middle-range Balistine (MRBM), more precisely in the fourth generation Khorramshahr ballistic missile described by Iran as a new generation of their missile arsenal.
The range of 2,000 kilometers allows it to strike directly the Israeli territory, but also other potential goals in the Middle East.
Rocket Khaibar wears a conventional battle head with the possibility of increased explosive performance compared to previous models. It starts with liquid fuel, which ensures fast preparation and launch time, making it suitable for tactical and strategic operations.
In addition, there are improved guidance systems that include inertial navigation with the help of GPS, which increases precision, and achieves hypersonic speeds in the re-entry phase – between 12 and about 4 to 5 kilometers per second, which makes it difficult to intercept the surveillance systems.

Iranian Minister of Defense Mohammad-Cuts Ashtiani, previously stated that the rocket is part of Tehran’s efforts to “provide a comprehensive support to our friends and states in the path to the fight against domination.”
Israeli sources not commenting on statements from Tehran, but the Israeli army and intelligence services are already in high standby. Given the range of rockets Khaibar, Israel, but also the American bases in the region, they could be found within its reach.
International observers warn that the launch of rockets of this type would additionally destabilize an explosive situation anyway.
Although it is not yet known when – and whether – Iran will really launch the Khaibar rocket, the threat itself has a strong psychological and strategic effect. Combined with already launched hundreds of drones and rockets, it is clear that Iran is trying to send a message that will not remain passive in dealing with Israeli attacks.
