Alma Ćosović (43), the mother of three children from Montenegro, passed on Sunday 3. August in the Clinical Center of Montenegro from the consequences of severe injuries suffered in the brutal attack that occurred on 10. June. The attack is suspected Dušan Ramić, a citizen of Serbia, who, according to the families and the Center for Women’s Rights, beats the eyes before her minor child with special needs, then fled the scene.
“Monster left her to die next to his own child”
Multiple State Prosecutor’s Office of Montenegro took over the investigation after Alma succumbed to injuries. This for the RTCG portal confirmed the representative of VDT Lepa Medenica, adding that the autopsy was ordered.
According to her brother Demir Ćosović, Alma was left in a caleless state after 30 hours after the attack, without the help provided. At that moment, there was her child in the apartment, which, as he stated the family, found exhausted and unattended. Alma was in a coma all that time.
“My sister was killed, not given a minimum of a chance of surviving, the monster did not express remorse – he did not inform anyone in addition to his own child,” Demir Ćosović in the letter delivered.
It is detained
The Montenegrin Police Directorate announced on 11. June that Ramic was arrested in Podgorica and his custody for the criminal offense of domestic violence was made with the criminal offense of enabling the enjoyment of narcotics. He was also against him and a misdemeanor proceedings for neglecting the child’s partner, in accordance with the Law on Protection against Violence in the Family.
The Center for Women’s Rights, which was first publicly published by the case, said that he expected an appropriate sentence penalty and called on the state to take responsibility for the systematic protection of women and children.
“This figicide is another confirmation that women in Montenegro exposed to extreme violence, while the response of the state remains far below the legally prescribed standards,” said from the center.
The family demands that the criminal offense qualifies as murder
Demir Ćosović emphasized that his sister and suspects did not live in the family community and that the family requires that the criminal offense legally qualifies as murder, not as domestic violence. He announced that the family would follow all phases of the proceedings, with the support of lawyers and the Center for Women’s Rights.
Family Ćosović thanked the doctors of the Clinical Center of Montenegro and the staff of the intensive care department, who tried to save almin life for months.
The case shook the Montenegrin public again and further dragged attention to a deep rooted problem of violence against women and the inefficiency of institutional protection.
