US President Donald Trump, who is 79 years old, suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, said the White House yesterday.
It is a condition in which veins in their feet fail to properly repay the blood towards the heart, so it stays in the lower extremities, which can cause swelling, pain and changes to the skin.

“It can be associated with more serious complications, but in itself is not serious and very often,” said Dr. Matthew Edwards, Chief of the Department of Vascular Surgery at Wake Forest University. According to him, in the Trump’s age group between 10 and 35 percent of people have this disorder.
Additional risk factors include excessive body weight, blood clot history and jobs that require long-term standing.
The condition is usually held under control by carrying compression socks, raising the legs during the night and using the moisturizing creams. Professor Ian Chetter, President of the British Society for Vascular Surgery, said the state “very, very rarely can be life-threatening”.
Trump performed his first annual systematic review in the second presidential mandate in April.
