As of midnight, the decision to temporarily limit the filling of fuel at gas stations in Slovenia is in effect, with the aim of reducing problems in the supply of petroleum derivatives.
According to the adopted measures, a maximum of 50 liters of fuel per day is allowed at one gas station for a natural person and 200 liters for a legal person and a natural person performing an activity, including agricultural. Restrictions will apply until further notice.
The Slovenian army is also involved in fuel distribution, whose members will help with transport and supply. Authorities have urged distributors to coordinate deliveries from warehouses to gas stations to speed up delivery and increase supply efficiency.
Fuel dealers are obliged to submit regular reports to the government on the condition of gas stations, based on which the authorities will decide on possible additional measures.
Prime Minister Robert Golob announced that measures that would specifically limit the sale of fuel to foreign citizens were being considered, and traders were recommended to prepare appropriate steps in that direction.
Supply problems are most pronounced in the company Petrol, which was criticized by the Prime Minister, while the company said that they are making maximum efforts to ensure a stable supply to the network.
The Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, spoke after an emergency session of the Cabinet of Ministers, where the major energy crisis caused by the war in the Middle East was discussed.
– We held a session of the Cabinet of the Government ahead of tomorrow’s session, where we will present the 10th package of measures to protect citizens and the economy from the global rise in energy prices due to the war in the Middle East. Therefore, we will react again with new measures and mitigate the latest increase in energy prices on the market. Our goal is to guarantee security of supply and the lowest possible price of electricity, gas and fuel for households and for the normal functioning of the economy – said Plenković.
The government announced that the government session will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. where the 10th package of measures will be presented. Before that, a session of the parliamentary majority and a meeting with social partners will be held.
On March 19, the Serbian government extended the ban on the export of oil and oil derivatives until April 2, and 40,000 tons of diesel will be released from the state reserve as an additional market protection measure.
The government’s ban applies to diesel, petrol and crude oil and applies to all modes of transport.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić had a telephone conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban about “joint bridging of the crisis in different fields of energy”.
Vučić announced that the state will continue to reduce excise taxes on fuel in order to keep prices under control, despite large losses in the budget due to the rise in oil prices on the world market.
Amendments to the Law on Excise Taxes that allow for the temporary abolition or reduction of excise taxes on fuel are not on the proposed agenda of the emergency session of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina scheduled for Monday, March 23, but it is already known that at least one delegate will request that they be included in that agenda.
Amendments to this law provide that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina can make a decision on the temporary abolition or reduction of excise duty on fuel in case of market disruption or other justified reason. They were adopted on Monday, March 16, by the House of Representatives under an urgent procedure, bearing in mind the rampant fuel prices due to the war in the Middle East and that there is no indication when it will stop. Only representatives from the SNSD were against, as those from this party also announced with the explanation that it was a transfer of jurisdiction, writes Factor.
