The US has announced that special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Berlin. The place and time of the weekly talks were initially kept secret, reports Anadolia.
It was also not known who exactly from the Ukrainian side would participate in the weekly talks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is also expected in Berlin on Monday.
German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius announced on Friday that Chancellor Friedrich Merz will receive him first for the German-Ukrainian economic talks.
This will be followed by a meeting of European heads of government with Zelenski in the office at the invitation of Merz, which will also be attended by representatives of the EU and NATO. It is not yet known whether US representatives will participate in the talks at the office on Monday night.
Recently, Witkoff and US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, spent several days in Florida talking to Ukrainians.
On the Kyiv side, the negotiations were led by former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Chief of Cabinet Andrii Hnatow. Before that, Witkoff and Kushner spent hours in Moscow talking with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
