The Health Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton Aida Salčinović attended the panel discussion “Institutions’ response to new addiction challenges”, which was held 26.06.2025. In the Zenica Hotel within the program of celebrating the International Drug Abuse.
In his introductory address, Minister Salčinovic pointed out that the dependence is disease, not weakness, and that the responsible institutions must build a system that does not turn their heads from the problem, but provides a hand. She emphasized that the Health Ministry of Health recognizes the importance of continuous support for people fighting with various forms of addiction, as well as the work of experts involved in their daily treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration.
The Minister especially emphasized that the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, in 2025. It was provided by funds in the total amount of 110,000 KM for co-financing four significant projects for the ZDK Dependence Dependence. Projects include work with people dependent on illegal psychoactive substances, tobacco, alcohol, as well as prevention and treatment of behavioral addictions such as gambling and addiction on the Internet and games.
– We do not provide these projects only financial support to the Institute, but together, we build a system that gives people a chance of healing and a dignified return to society.
The Health Ministry of Health still remains dedicated to the partnership approach, empowering institutions and policy-making, which will contribute to the reduction of dependence and protection of public health.
