Health Minister ZDK Aida Salčinović at a meeting on strengthening health culture: Joint approach to health and young people’s health

The Health Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton participated in a joint meeting of ministers and the Minister of Health and Education of the Federation of BiH, a dedicated theme “of the health and education sector protection.

The meeting was organized by the Institute for the Population and Development in Cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Health, within the “Healthy Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, which supports the Government of Switzerland, and is implemented in partnership with the Entity Ministries of Health.

During the meeting, representatives of the Ministries and employees in the field of health and education were considered for better coordination between schools and health institutions, in order to improve the physical, mental and youth social health and social health.

The results of the analysis of curricula, with proposals in the education system, are presented in the education system, which promote healthy lifestyles and mental well-being. As prominently, schools represent a natural environment for the development of health culture – from the earliest age until the end of schooling.

– This meeting is important because it shows that the health of children can no longer observe only as a health question. It is also educational, family, and even a social question. When the health and education sector work together, we open the door to prevention, early recognition of problems and generations that know how to preserve both physical and mental health – said Minister Salčinović.

She emphasized that the Health Ministry of Health will actively participate in further development of joint guidelines and that an intersectoral approach is key to preserving the health of children and youth, especially in the amount of stress and unhealthy behaviors among young people.

Participants agreed that it is necessary to: establish continuous cooperation between schools and health institutions, develop curricula that promote health and prosperity, and strengthen teachers and health workers through joint education programs.

It was agreed to form a working group, which will concretize the proposals and recommendations in the coming months, and the cantonal ministries will play an active role in the implementation of agreed measures.

As ordered at the meeting, the development of health culture is not a one-time project, but a long-term process that begins in kindergarten, and continues through the entire education system. Investing in the health of children and young people is the most valuable investment because healthy children mean a stable community and a responsible society.
