Today, the Cantonal Court in Zenica sentenced the Trial Judgment in the “Zenicatrans” against the mayor of Zenica Fuada Kasumović and other accused. Kasumović was sentenced to four years in prison.
The verdict was sentenced after a multi-year trial, which began in October 2022. and during which approximately 90 hearings were held.
Kasumović did not appear on today’s sentencing.
The process was abounded by extensive evidence, including more than 12,000 pages and over 750 documents.
The indictment was filed on 11. March 2022. year, charged by Kasumović and others for several crimes, in order to do crimes, abuse, the abuse of bankruptcy, forgery of the official document and unscrupulous work in the service.
The Prosecution claims that the accused, acting as an organized group since 2017. until 2020. year, the bus station of ZenicaTrans, thus avoiding the collection of the claim of the Federation of BiH in the amount of more than seven million KM.
During the trial, the Defense claimed that the Prosecution did not prove any of the key claims, nor the existence of association, intent or causing harm. It was emphasized that all relations between Zenica and ZenicaTrans had a legal basis and that the city of Zenica legitimately invested funds in the company.
However, all this was not enough for the defense of the accused in this case.
The verdict was told by Judge Ismar Jukić, Chairman of the Trial Chamber, while the prosecutor was Adina Karadža.
This case attracted great public attention to their complexity and possible political consequences, including the possibility of maintaining early elections in Zenica.
Since it is a first-instance verdict, it is to be expected that the Defense will complain, it says Clix.
