Goran Vučević (54) is leaving the position of sports director of Hajduk, but he will perform that job until the club finds a new solution. Club president Ivan Bilić and Ljubo Pavasović-Visković, president of the Supervisory Board, will announce this to the public at an extraordinary media conference at 5 p.m. Details will be explained at the press conference.
Vucevic was in office only since July last year. Former player, coach and sports director Bilih returned to More people after the club broke up with the former sports director François Vitali. Vucevic returned to Hajduk after nine years and became the main man for sports matters.
He leaves Hajduk only half a year after returning to the club
Vucevic left the club for the last time before this in 2016, after holding the position of sports director for three years. After leaving Hajduk, he worked as part of the sports director’s team Barcelona and as technical and sports director Al Shitfrom which he left at the end of 2023.
Now Vucevic is leaving Hajduk again. The sporting director leaves the moment the club second on the SHNL table–awith five points less than the leading Dinamo. Hajduk was relegated from Europe at the beginning of the season Dynamo from Tyrants in the third preliminary round of the Conference League.
A season of transition
Vucevic became Hajduk’s sports director on July 4 last year. Taking over and talking about whether Hajduk will fight for the title, he announced that “a season of transition” for the club.
That was not well received by some of the fans because they took Vučević’s words as deficit ambitions and giving up the fight for the title before the start of the championship. Vučević, on the other hand, said that the club and the team must be within realistic dimensions.
No money for reinforcements and selling the most valuable players
Since Vucevic became sports director, they have been sold Dominic Prpic for 4.5 million euros to Porto, Branimir Mlacic for 4.7 million euros to Udinese, while Philip Uremović went to Kawasaki for 800 thousand euros.
As for arrivals, compensations were paid for Ivica Ivušić (600 thousand euros), Ron Raid (300 thousand euros) i Fran Karacic (200 thousand euros). Ante Rebić he came without compensation, as well as Adrion Pajazite. The arrivals of the Spaniards attracted attention. Edgar Gonzalez and Iker Almena they arrived on loan, a Hugo Guillamon without compensation. However, Karačić was already sent on loan to Osijek, and Gonzalez was returned home.

Bad relationship with Garcia and the impossibility of resolving the crisis with Livaj
It is no secret that Vucevic did not have a good relationship with Gonzalo Garcia although the close cooperation of the coach and sports director is necessary for the success of the team. Garcia was not Vucevic’s choice, so the two had cohabitation, not collaboration. In addition, a big problem for Hajduk, and also for Vučević, was intolerance between the coach and the team’s first star, Brand Foundries.
