Members of the European TaEx expert missions are currently working on mapping BH. Capacity for donating and transplantation of bodies, which is another important step on our country to membership in the International Foundation for Eurotransplant.
During the mission, visits to health institutions in Sarajevo, Mostar, Zenica, Tuzla, Brčko and Banja Luka are planned.
State institutions

The prerequisite for membership in Eurotransplant, as prominently, has been developed a donor program, a larger number of caderial transplants, ie a minimum of ten donors per million inhabitants, in the case of BiH 30 donors per year.

Weak links
– The expert mission will evaluate where they are weak, but I know that the promotion of donor is one of the key factors in order for the family to give consent for transplantation. The promotion was never adequate because we were never supported and everything was based on enthusiasm, will and the wishes of the associations of dialyshed and transplanted patients headed by Tomislav Zuljević – says Professor Resic.
In the last year, a total of 28 transplants were performed in BiH, of which 26 renal transplants, of which 12 are thanks to family consenses with the patients who had brain death. A transplantation of one liver and the first time of the heart was carried out.
Resic points out that potential donors are in intensive care of the clinic and hospitals, while donors who own almost 80,000 citizens from all parts of BiH express their desire to save human life in case something happens.
A larger chance
– Doctors in intensive care must receive full support. We are witnessing many traffic accidents, that people are on the appliances and that their authorities go to the country. We have excellent experts, and the media are crucial, to make that step together and bring people closer to people the importance of donating organ. EurotransPlant membership would mean that our patients in dialysis, whom the BiH 2,700 – 2,800 would have a larger chance to obtain an organ and better quality of life – Resic.
Membership in EuroTransplant BiH is needed and harmonization of laws, combining the list of patients waiting for transplantation and establishment of fast and secure channels for cross-border transportation of organs, writes Avaz.
