Due to racist and homophobic reactions during friendly matches against Bolivia, Uruguay and Brazil in the summer of 2024, Mexico was fined and partially closed 15 percent of the stadium for the next match.
CAS concluded that the fines imposed by FIFA were “a proper sanction and proportionate to the disciplinary offence”. However, he partially upheld the appeal and reversed the partial closure of the stadium.
