Joshua was quite dominant, which was expected, and during the fight he overpowered Paul so much that he broke his jaw, for which the American will have to undergo an operation.
Paul was taken to the hospital immediately after the match, where he was diagnosed with a double fracture of the jaw, so now he is awaiting a period of recovery.
“I just had surgery and everything went well. Thank you for your love and support. I’m in pain and will be eating through a straw for the next seven days. Thank you to the entire medical team at the University of Miami Hospital. Everyone was great to me. The surgery was a success and I have two titanium plates, one on each side of my jaw. Some teeth had to be extracted,” explained Paul.
Despite the brutal knockout and dominant fight, Joshua made it clear that he was not satisfied with his performance, especially in the opening rounds of the match.
“It had to be better. I won, but this is not a success. My coach expects more from me, and I expect the same from myself,” said Joshua.
