Automatic external defibrillators are a key factor in rescuing life in a sudden cardiac stoppage, and their availability can significantly increase the chances of survival. So far, 16 such devices have been installed in the Sarajevo, and thanks to the support of the Ministry of Health and City Municipalities, it is planned to install about 50 such devices.
The mapping of the registered AED devices to be distributed to strategically significant locations and public places were performed. The Rulebook on the standards for the introduction and implementation of publicly available early defibrillation envisages that devices are placed in locations where a number of citizens gather.
With this important procurement, the organization of the BLS / AED (BASIC LIFE SUPPOR) courses, which will implement an ambulance training center in order to train citizens to the basis of the resuscitation and the proper use of the defibrillator.
