The coach of the Croatian national football team, Zlatko Dalić, is a special guest of the international sports symposium “Simposar 2026”, which takes place from May 11 to 13 in Novigrad, Istria.
Dalić, a two-time world medalist, will lead Croatia at the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, and during his stay in Istria, he reflected on the success of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
“A great community was created”
Like born Livnjak, Dalić is well versed in the happenings in Bosnian football. The key to success, according to him, lies in the togetherness and atmosphere built by coach Sergej Barbarez, combining youth and experience.
I think so Bosnia and Herzegovina did something similar to Croatia. A good national team was created, the coach arranged it well. He introduced young forces, but kept Dzeko and gathered younger players around him. He also hired several players from abroad, who were born there, and they brought new strength and energy. A great community was created, which is extremely important, said Dalić about the BiH national team.
The Croatian coach believes that Bosnia and Herzegovina should proceed gradually at the World Cup, with the first goal of qualifying the group, and expressed his wish that the two national teams meet later in the tournament.
BiH has already made a big deal. We saw the celebration and euphoria that ensued. Expectations at the World Cup are high, and the group with Canada, Switzerland and Qatar is not difficult. Passing is possible and I think the goal must be to pass the group, without setting too many ambitions and expectations. Step by step, BiH can do it. God grant that we will meet at a later stage championships, he concluded.
